Hydrostatic vs Radiation

What I’ve learned and researched. Please consider this.

For the last year and a half a few different companies in our area and state have been offering DEXA scans (Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry scans), a diagnostic test primarily used for bone density testing, as another option for body composition testing.

DEXA scan is a form of ionizing radiation. Each time you get in the DEXA scan, the radiation you receive is added to your lifetime exposure to radiation. Radiation is accumulative and does not “go away”. There is always a slight chance of cancer from excessive exposure to radiation.

While It is true DEXA scan is a gold standard for bone density scanning only, It is NOT a gold standard for body composition testing. You will be exposed to unnecessary radiation and an image showing where your extra body fat lies.

You CANNOT spot reduce your extra fat. Why get additional radiation and information that is not helpful?
